Soft Tissue Therapy

Also known as Remedial Massage, this deep soft tissue treatment is used to address specific problems or areas of discomfort and concern. Different hands-on techniques are employed to facilitate a change to the soft tissue layers, from superficial to deep. The primary goals are to reduce pain and improve movement. 

This focus is on the layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia to aid in the restoration of functional movement and to facilitate postural change, restoring correct muscle tone, symmetry, and balance.

Massage treatments will differ according to the client's needs and symptoms. All treatments combine ongoing assessment with massage and advanced soft tissue techniques such as:

 

  • Muscle Energy Technique

  • Soft Tissue Release

  • Fascial Release Technique

  • Neuro-Muscular Technique

  • Positional Release Technique

  • Kinesiology Taping

  • Cupping

 

Where necessary exercises may be recommended to be continued at home between treatments, and general advice is given regarding posture and lifestyle.

Sports massage is designed to help the participant ready their body for upcoming activity giving optimal performance, or helping to recover from an event, as well as get the most from continued training.

 

Sports massage therapy is geared towards all levels of sporting performance from individuals new to exercise and activity to international top-class athletes. This kind of massage puts emphasis on the prevention and healing of injuries to muscles and soft tissues, reducing restrictions of joint and soft tissue range of movement. Sports massage prepares the mind and body for the best possible performance by promoting flexibility, reducing fatigue, and helps prevent injuries through stimulating circulation of blood and lymph fluids as well deeper techniques to assist with the breakdown of adhesions in the muscles and increasing the range of movement with different stretching techniques.
